About Crystal & Kleya Psychiatry
Professional Background
My healthcare career began in 2008, building a broad clinical foundation that culminated in my dual certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) and Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP).
After establishing my expertise as a critical care nurse, I advanced my education, earning my initial NP degree from La Salle University in 2016. My experience as an FNP at the Mary Howard Health Center in Philadelphia and as a medical provider in the substance use disorder unit at Crozer Chester Medical Center provided a deep understanding of complex and often treatment-resistant psychiatric conditions combined with challenging biopsychosocial issues.
Commitment to Advanced Care
These experiences highlighted the urgent need for new and effective treatments. Driven by this demand, I resumed my studies at La Salle University, completing a Post-Master's Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner certification. I further enhanced my specialized knowledge by completing a Psychedelic Assisted Therapy certification program at the SoundMind Institute in Philadelphia, ensuring I remain at the forefront of modern, integrated mental healthcare. I work with individuals across a diverse range of psychiatric needs, specializing in:
Substance Use Disorders (Addiction) and Harm Reduction strategies.
Mood Disorders, Anxiety Disorders, and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
Integrated Approach to Care
My philosophy is rooted in holistic treatment. My therapeutic approach skillfully combines:
Medication Management: Addressing brain-based biological factors.
Psychotherapy and Mind-Body Techniques: Reshaping deeply ingrained emotional and behavioral patterns.
I utilize a foundation in psychodynamic psychotherapy alongside working knowledge of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to support clients in exploring and achieving their unique goals.
Collaboration and Safety
All therapeutic relationships are built on collaboration, client autonomy, and shared decision-making. As a dual-certified Nurse Practitioner (NP), my extensive medical background ensures that your treatment plan is designed with your safety as the highest priority, carefully considering the impact of psychiatric interventions on your complete medical and psychological history.
I prioritize team-based care, consistently collaborating with other mental health professionals and leveraging my membership in professional organizations to ensure my practice follows the latest evidence-based treatment guidelines.
I am proponent of transparency and will gladly include your psychotherapist or other medical specialists in your treatment planning to achieve the best possible outcomes.
Outside of the clinic, I am an active advocate for human rights and environmental causes. My personal life is balanced by creative pursuits such as playing the bass guitar, journaling, painting, and making jewelry, all while enjoying time with my fiancé and our companions, Cornbread (a dog) and Nico (a cat).
